Epinions is a great place to publish reviews of all types of products. There is no limit to the kinds things you can write about. You simply sign up absolutely free with Epinions and write about whatever you want without having to ask anyone for permission. You could go crazy like me and write a review about nearly everything you purchase thereby defraying their costs. Since your reviews stay in their system indefinitely this could become a nice residual income with some serious work. Read books, listen to music, play video games, watch movies, buy toothpaste, eat at local restaurants, you get the idea. After joining Epinions a ticket to a sneak preview of a movie is your meal ticket. Getting access to a movie, book or anything before the general public does, and being one of the first to write a review about it, can and often will greatly increase your readership. The catch? You are operating in a heavily competitive arena. A well-advertised, over-hyped movie like Spiderman can garner 254 reviews at last count. How is your lone review going to stand out from that crowd? I assure you one of those 254 folks got their review at the top of the list. The answer to this question isn't easy. Getting a sneak preview ticket alone won't bring tremendous residuals. It takes thorough research, understanding your subject matter, checking up on your competitors to improve upon their technique (NOT to plagiarize them! I abhor plagiarism and they will terminate your account for it!) and find something new to do that nobody else is. The point is you're not going to be successful here writing down a bunch of schlock. One eloquent, well-thought review is worth a lot more than 10,000 hastily-written chicken scratch ones. No money to buy anything? Worry not. Most public libraries carry new releases of lots of things, or borrow CDs and DVDs from friends or the video shop. For even the lowest income of us there are simply things that must be bought that could be reviewed on Epinions. Sadly Epinions is not a referral program, but this is outweighed by the potential for serious long-term residuals if you do your job right!
Useless Knowledge Magazine is a little less automated than Epinions so that the editor can give individualized attention to each article published. There is no pay, but real authors know patiently building a following by getting some good attention here and there is more valuable than money in the bank, and they allow authers to post URLs with their articles. Editorial management seems to have slight knee-jerk conservatism leanings, so this may or may not be the appropriate forum for your ideas, but Useless Knowledge Magazine has been around longer than this website, so they must have some popularity.
